![]() Hi, I'm Laura Rose and I - er - borrowed Mrs. Garrett's blog for the day. Because I want you to meet my new friend Addie! I just met her a few weeks ago and that's her in <========== this book. Today, I'm going to interview her. You wanna hear? Hi Addie! How old are you? I’m 8 and 2/5s. (We just learned fractions at school.) Hi, Laura Rose! My name is Addie and I’m 6 ½ years old. I’m not so good at fractions yet but I can count almost to 100. That's awesome! My favorite color is green. What is your favorite color? I like the purple butterflies that like to hide in Momma’s flower garden so I think my favorite color is purple. That's a good story. I love stories. What is a Story Catcher? How do you get to be one? Ever since I was little, my Momma and my big brother, Jack, said I was going to be the next Story Catcher cuz we like reading books together. But I don’t know if I’m ever gonna get to be one. Those words sure wiggle round a lot when I try to catch ‘em. I went to Mexico, once, for a whole day. If you could go anywhere for a whole day, where would you go? Can I go to Disneyland? Would I get to see Elsa and Anna there? Yes! But if you want them to sign your autograph book, you have to wait in line three whole hours! Do you have a pet? Mommy won’t let me have one. But I have a secret pet. If you had a secret pet, what would it be? Oh yes, I have a kitty named Tom-tom. He’s sooo big and when he curls up in my lap, I can’t even see my toes! I love Tom-tom but I wouldn’t mind having my own dragon! Do you have any friends? The only friend I have is Drew, and, well, he doesn’t count as a real friend. What games do you like to play? Can I count my Mimi as a friend? Whenever she comes over, she always brings me a surprise from one of the faraway places she visits. We play tic tac toe, but I never win. Mimi says I have to practice really hard, just like with my story catching, and one day I’ll be able to beat her! What’s your favorite ice cream? I like vanilla. Drew likes that too. Except, if there’s only one cone that’s vanilla, then Drew likes chocolate. I don’t like ice cream much. It makes my teeth shake when I bite into it and gives me what Momma calls my ice cream head freezies. I’ve been bugging Mrs. Garrett to write my story down. How did you get Donna L. Martin to tell your story? Oh, I know that story! She was helping a little girl like me to learn how to read. That little girl couldn’t catch her stories either, but she tried and tried for a long time until one day those wiggly words stopped running around long enough for her to catch one or two of them. Now she can read them all by herself! Laura Rose, what are you doing? Ohhh, Addie, we’d better split. Thanks for the interview. Great interview Laura Rose. You asked good questions just like a grown-up, real interviewer! And in case you ever want to interview me, green is my favorite color also. :-)

Addie sounds like she'd get on well with my six year old. She finds words quite wiggly at times, too!
