(Below my entry is the link to the full details of the contest)
And now my entry,
But first an important question:
Do you have Popcorn?
OK, I may have overstated the importance of that question.
OK, OK, enough stalling... My entry comes in at 99 words (according to Word)
Too Old for Halloween
Broomhilda, on her Halloween flight,
spied Pumpkin Jack crying, "I'm too old!"
Ghostly mold covered his pumpkin chin.
Bugs crawled through his pumpkin teeth.
One moon-shaped eye drooped lower than the other.
"Fiddlechips," Broomhilda said. "I'm 458 years old."
"You're a witch! That's different."
Broomhilda piled leaves on Jack's head.
"Yes, bury me." Jack moaned.
Broomhilda wrapped a bandana around Jack's top.
"I'm uglier!" Jack groaned.
"Fiddlechips!" Broomhilda coaxed a spider to weave a patch over Jack's eye.
"My only good part," Jack whimpered.
Broomhilda held up her pocket mirror. "See?"
"Jack the Pumpkin Pirate is NOT too old."
More about the Contest
Every year, Susanna Hill hosts this awesome contest with FABULOUS prizes where writers get to post Halloweensie stories. Add your link to the list there, and read the other entries. I'll be spending this weekend reading, too!
Just one more important question: Who ate all the popcorn?
HAVE A HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
