Most editors and agents will advise you not to have animal characters with alliteration names. Allie Aligator, Connie Crocodile and Sarah Squirrel are taboo names. Miss Bindergarten’s books works because the alliteration isn’t actually in the text.
Think about it...
If you didn’t see the pictures, you might not even guess that the students were animals, and you probably wouldn’t guess that Miss Bindergarten is a dog.
My point is...
If you are not an illustrator, then it’s probably not a good idea to have talking animals in your story. And if your characters must be animals, then try not to have alliteration in their names.
