This is the second post of the A to Z Blog Challenge. Maybe you missed yesterday’s post, but if not, here’s today’s –
BANG! BOOM! ROAR!
That great onomatopoeia is the title of a fun rhyming alphabet book, which you get from the subtitle: A Busy Crew of Dinosaurs (ABCD, get it?)
HarperKids (the publisher) put out a trailer for the book. The narrator reads a surprising amount of the book. But to see the endpapers, you need an actual copy of the book in your hands. And it’s practically worth it just for the endpapers.
Let me pause a moment to rant about the end pages in picture books.
But if you don't want to read it, Here's the next installment of THE GREAT ALPHABET DISASTER.
B was bawling his bumps out when A bounded onto the page.
“Hey, B, do you know what Assaulted my Apple?” A asked. “Also, why Are you bawling?”
“I’m sorry.” B bawled harder. “I Bounced it, Because I Believed it was my Ball!”
B had indeed bounced A’s Apple until it was bruised and broken, but tossed it back onto A’s page once he’d become aware.
“I’ve Been Bamboozled!” B bellowed. “Oh, what Became of my Ball?”
A looked for B’s Ball.
he didn’t find it.
But he bumbled onto something else…
“Hey!” said A, beckoning, “Those round blots Are the size And shape of your ball.”
The blots led onto the next page.
A “Aha, A mystery! come on, B, mysteries Are Awesome.”
“right Behind you!” B brightened. “Blimey! I’ve been wanting a Break from my page.”
So Begins A and B’s Brilliantly Baffling journey…
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
