Since I am still trying to catch up my posts – today's is short. Hope you enjoy, anyway!
Peoples is Peoples
The character Pete in Muppets Take Manhattan said it best. And nobody can understand it.
For Writers: Inside and Outside My Head
Writers are often as comfortable with the characters in their head as the people around them. But when both demand your attention... that becomes very uncomfortable.
For Readers: Diversity
Today, I read a very important article about #ownvoices. It talked about how POC authors (that is, People of Color)sometimes get treatment in the publishing world reminiscent of "separate but equal" segregation. It was an eye-opener for me. So I want to share it.
This may seem more like a writer's topic than a reader's, but as readers we have a duty to demand more books that reflect the diversity of the real world.
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
