Are you looking for insights into the business of writing? What are editors looking for in an author? What are the secrets to success? Author Bitsy Kemper shares her experiences about the financial side of being a writer and offers tips on how to look professional to editors, your readers and other authors during her presentation on “The Writing Business” 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, at the Placerville Library, 345 Fair Lane.
Bitsy spent too much of her early career in the computer industry, not realizing the creative passion she would have once she started writing children’s books. After publishing her first four picture books, she figured out a way to merge her PR and marketing expertise with her writing. When not nose down and knee deep in her own writing, she enjoys presenting at schools, events, and writers conferences, and helping other writers get attention. She’s the author of twelve books including one non-fiction YA book, seven chapter books, and four picture books, with a few more due out next year. You can find her at BitsyKemper.com.
Ms. Kemper is one of a series of guest speakers addressing the library’s writing group, The Writers’ Bloc, which meets the first Saturday of every month. For more information on this free public event, contact the Library at (530) 621-5540 or visit the Upcoming Events calendar on the library’s website www.eldoradolibrary.org.
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
