(My poem, written several years ago, seems appropriate):
Here I am
New Year's here again,
Looking at that same old list,
I wrote so long ago.
They say hindsight is 20/20,
But I don't really know.
I guess you have to turn around
to see if that is so.
So I'm taking one step back
to get a better picture.
one step back
how far I've come.
Unconquered Goals will stress you out
If you dare to let them
Sometimes it takes one step back
to see a hundred steps forward.
What's New in January?
What a crazy wonderful month it's been!
Nope, no agent yet.
But that's OK because remember where I was last month?
(How could you forget? But just in case, here's a link to the last update day.)
Feeling Pretty low.
I hadn't given up on my writing, but I was just about as close to it as I've ever been.
So I started simplifying.
Then... THEN! All these opportunities began showing up.
Are you kidding me? Where was all this when I was in the zone and submitting?
"No, no!" I thought. I can't be trying for this right now.
But my hubby said go for it.
So I did.
Now, I don't know if those opportunities will pan out. It doesn't even matter.
Because I have something even more exciting (for me) to share:
TWO NEW MANUSCRIPTS!
That's right. Just when I thought the creative well was dry.
When I thought my muse was gone for good, or at least dying.
It started again.
If you think your passion is washed up,
If you think you'll never write anything worth publication,
You might need to take your muse out of the pressure cooker.
And that's when you might be most surprised.
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
