Ever spend hours writing a post, hit the publish button and the *poof* the post disappears? That happened to me.
Tips for Saving your Blogging Sanity
Step 1: Write offline. Build your post somewhere other than your website so that if you lose the final post, at least you can go back and rebuild it. (Guess what I didn't do)
Step 2: As you build the post online, take note of any warning signs that your post might get lost. Funky formatting, missing buttons, and weird refreshes usually indicate problems. (But, well, I ignored them)
Step 3: Copy the draft link from your working post. If the post disappears from navigation it might actually still be there at a now hidden link. (Um... I forgot.)
Step 4: Save often. Save your offline and online drafts as you build them. If the computer crashes, hopefully you'll have at least part of it. (I actually did this!)
Step 5: When you hit publish, be sure you are hitting the right one. Don't accidently delete all your hard work. (Although, I'm pretty sure the website just ate my post.)
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
