This is another post for the A to Z Challenge. You can always catch up on past posts, but when you are done I hope you enjoy today's post -
Poor X. Almost every ABC book has words that start letters, until you get to X. And even ABC books that star X, like
don’t have titles that actually start with X
So, I’m going to write one. And you heard it first, right here on this blog. X also gets his own installment below in THE GREAT ALPHABET DISASTER:
You should know X shares a page with Y and Z.
But don't worry, X is used to it.
Since he’s not much of word-starter, he often shares his page with other letters, tagging along as second string or even bringing up the end. It’s not a bad life, because ironically, X is more of an introvert than an eXtrovert.
X does have a few treasures, like his Xylophone and his X-ray, and he feels pretty important when someone uses him to look for that X-factor. But mostly he lets other letters have the initial spotlight, or provides a placeholder when he stands in for the unknown. But don’t be fooled –
X knows how to make his mark on the world.
I write about, with, for, and around kids all day. (Well, maybe I do the dishes too. Sometimes.)
