This website in its entirety uses the Free version of Weebly.com. This means there may be ads when you visit this website. It also means there are tracking cookies on this website, powered by Weebly and other servers which I have no direct access to. I can, however, see how many visits my blog gets in aggregate over the past week, and I also receive notifications whenever someone leaves a comment on my blog. I use these notifications to alert me so that I can respond. I also like to return visits, so I will click on websites if you link them to your name in a comment. I also have access to your email when you leave a comment, which I may on the very rare occasion use to contact you. I have only once contacted someone using an email from a comment. She had asked me to contact her in the comment. Other visitors to my website might also visit yours if there's a link to click on. However, they do not have access to your email address. If I cared, I could probably see other analytics that Weebly and its associate companies track. But I don't. Care that is. So, FYI I don't get any money for you visiting the site, and I don't pay any money for this website. AND I don't get any money if you purchase something because of an ad you saw on this or other websites you visit. But you are still welcome to visit, leave comments, and follow. In fact, I hope you do!
Subscribing to the Blog
I use Feedburner to allow visitors to follow my blog on this website. When you subscribe, Feedburner stores your information in a database with all my other subscribers. Feedburner automatically sends you emails whenever I post something new to my blog. It's very convenient for me. I may have access to this subscriber database, but I have never tried to access it. Nor do I plan to. Like with Weebly, this list is not stored on my personal computer but on another server associated with Feedburner. I'm trying to avoid the term "cloud-based" because I have opinions about how misleading that term is. But I think essentially that's where your info is. It seems Feedburner is owned by Google. So yes, it tracks you. And, yes, you can unsubscribe anytime. (Just click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of an email that come from "my blog".)
Social Media Buttons
I have social media links on this website which will send you to an external social media site. I get notified if you choose to follow me on one of my social media pages. But this notification does not come from my website. It comes from the respective social media site where you followed me. I sometimes use the information you provide on my social media site to interact with you (i.e. comment on your posts, respond to your comments, message you directly, or follow you back). I rarely post on anyone else's timeline in social media, but I may post in a social media group that you control. I always try to keep my interaction with you relevant and nonintrusive. If I fail to do this, please let me know so I can stop being annoying.
Sometimes, I put internal and external links in my blog posts. I also have several internal and external links on the sidebar of my homepage. Internal links that you choose to click on may be tracked by Weebly, Feedburner and/or either entity's associate companies. I won't know whether or when that happens. Any external site you go to may also track your activity on this website, using cookies, usually in a format that is not personally identifiable to you, but may specifically identifiable to your device (unless otherwise stated in their respective privacy policies). I do not have access to nor do I control those tracking cookies either. I do, however, receive an email if you contact me through my website. Your email, name, and comments get forwarded to my inbox if you do this. I use this information to respond to you, but I will not purposely share your information without your explicit permission. If I become aware that your information was shared without your permission due to something in my control, then I will immediately inform you, ask your forgiveness, and work with you to resolve the situation if necessary. I will also take any steps to avoid it from happening again in the future, if possible.
How Long is the Data Stored?
As far as comments on my blog, and emails in my inbox, they may be stored indefinitely. (I rarely clean out my inbox.) You can always ask me to delete your comments on my website and also from my inbox, and I will do so gladly. But my website is public, so I cannot guarantee a third party won't copy the comment before it's deleted. In regards to tracking cookies that I have no control over, please refer to the privacy policies at Weebly.com, Feedburner, and any other external links you elect to visit. And that's about it! I hope this full disclosure was informative.
